Our Mission

Handball is one of the fastest team sports in the world, yet finding a court to play at can still be surprisingly difficult. The Handball Directory was created to solve that problem. We want every player — from grassroots to elite — to be able to find a place to play within minutes.

We currently list over 20,000 handball venues across 180+ countries, with new courts added every week by our growing community of contributors. Every listing is reviewed before publication to ensure the information is accurate and genuinely useful.

What Is Handball?

Handball (also known as team handball or Olympic handball) is a dynamic indoor sport played between two teams of seven players — six outfield players and a goalkeeper. The objective is to throw the ball into the opposing team's goal, scoring more goals than the other team within two 30-minute halves.

The sport demands a combination of athleticism, tactical awareness, and technical skill. Players must be able to pass, catch, and shoot at speed — often while under physical pressure from defenders. Top players frequently reach throwing speeds of over 130 km/h.

Handball has been an Olympic sport since the 1972 Munich Games and is particularly popular in Germany, France, Denmark, Spain, Croatia, and across North Africa. The IHF World Championship is one of the most-watched indoor sports events globally, with over a billion cumulative viewers across the tournament.

How the Directory Works

Searching for a handball court is simple. Enter your town, city, region, or country into the search bar on the home page, or use the location button to auto-detect where you are. You'll see a list of nearby venues sorted by proximity, along with details on each court's facilities, surface type, and contact information.

Every venue page includes the information you need to plan a session: the court address, available sports, facility details, and — where available — booking information. You can also view venues on an interactive map to see which courts are nearest to you.

How to Add a Missing Court

We rely on the handball community to help keep the directory up-to-date. If you know of a handball venue that is not yet listed, you can submit it directly from the Add a Court page. Our team reviews every submission and aims to publish new venues as quickly as possible.

Community contributions are at the heart of what makes the directory valuable. Each new venue added helps other players in your area find a place to play.
